AWS Elemental MediaLive now converts image-based subtitles to text-based captions for mobile device playback
Feed: Recent Announcements. AWS Elemental MediaLive now supports converting Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) bitmap and SCTE-27 image-based subtitles to WebVTT captions. Typically, web and mobile video players don't handle image-based subtitles, so you could not easily provide your viewers with captions from image-based sources. Now with MediaLive leveraging optical character recognition (OCR) functionality, you can convert these image-based subtitles to WebVTT format. OCR subtitle conversion in MediaLive is available at no additional charge. AWS Elemental Live also supports the same functionality in the 2.22.0 GA software release.
