Are IoT Devices for Home making Day-to-Day Life Simpler?

Feed: CronJ. Author: Nupur Pal; We have a new buzz phrase in the tech circles these days. The Internet of Things in smart home automation. The innovation of IoT devices for home promises to be bigger than the Internet and the World Wide Web ever were.A smart home involves the first step on the way to smart life. Domestic technology sales reached $13 billion in 2019. Moreover, the IoT devices for the home have been estimated to grow and reach nearly $53 billion by the end of the year.A lot of things are happening in the Internet of Things (IoT) ... Read More
AWS IoT ExpressLink is now generally available
Feed: Recent Announcements. We are excited to announce the general availability of hardware connectivity modules powered by AWS IoT ExpressLink, which are developed and offered by AWS Partners such as Espressif, Infineon, and u-blox. These modules enable easy AWS cloud-connectivity and implement AWS-mandated security requirements for device to cloud connections. Integrating these wireless modules into their hardware design, customers can now accelerate the development of their Internet of Things (IoT) products, including consumer products, industrial and agricultural sensors and controllers. Developers of all skill levels can now quickly and easily transform their products into IoT devices without having to merge ... Read More
Azure IoT increases enterprise-level intelligent edge and cloud capabilities
Feed: Microsoft Azure Blog. Author: Moe Tanabian. For Microsoft Azure IoT, our approach is connecting devices at the edge to the cloud seamlessly and securely to help customers achieve desired business outcomes. At this year’s Embedded World 2022, we’ll share how our Azure IoT solutions are delivering enhanced device security, seamless cloud integration, and device certification. One of the key ways we’re delivering cost-efficient and energy-efficient solutions to IoT customers at Embedded World is with new Arm64 support. Partners such as NXP, with i.MX 8M SoC processors, are bringing full Windows IoT Enterprise capabilities in a small footprint ideal for compact and fanless ... Read More
AWS IoT Device Management announces an 80% price reduction for Secure Tunneling
Feed: Recent Announcements. We are excited to announce that today we are reducing the price of the AWS IoT Device Management Secure Tunneling feature by 80%. With the improved cost efficiencies, customers can now scale Secure Tunneling to access remote devices deployed behind restricted firewalls for troubleshooting, configuration updates, training, and other operational tasks for their growing IoT workloads on AWS. Secure Tunneling is metered per tunnel opened. We are reducing the current price per tunnel by 80% while keeping the maximum tunnel duration at 12 hours. You can define the tunnel duration upon opening the tunnel and will not ... Read More
Running AWS Lambda functions on AWS Outposts using AWS IoT Greengrass

Feed: AWS Compute Blog. Author: Sheila Busser. This blog post is written by Adam Imeson, Sr. Hybrid Edge Specialist Solution Architect. Today, AWS customers can deploy serverless applications in AWS Regions using a variety of AWS services. Customers can also use AWS Outposts to deploy fully managed AWS infrastructure at virtually any datacenter, colocation space, or on-premises facility. AWS Outposts extends the cloud by bringing AWS services to customers’ premises to support their hybrid and edge workloads. This post will describe how to deploy Lambda functions on an Outpost using AWS IoT Greengrass. Consider a customer who has built an ... Read More
AWS IoT Device Management increases Active Jobs Limit to 100k per AWS account per region
Feed: Recent Announcements. We’re excited to announce that AWS IoT Device Management customers will now be able to create up to 100,000 Active Jobs per AWS account per region. The prior limit was 1,000 Active Jobs per AWS account per region. This new limit will apply to the total number of Jobs created - both continuous and snapshot jobs. Customers that require a large number of Active Jobs - for example, to apply bespoke configurations to thousands of individual targets in parallel – are now unblocked by this upgrade. The new limits are reflected to your AWS account automatically and ... Read More
How to improve security at the edge with AWS IoT services

Feed: The Internet of Things on AWS – Official Blog. Author: Niten Jaiswal. Introduction Edge computing, also known as fog computing and mobile computing, is a computing model that brings processing and data closer to the customer. By moving data closer to the customer, organizations need to review, and possibly expand, their security controls to ensure that their data is protected. In this blog I want focus on how AWS IoT Services, specifically AWS IoT Greengrass V2, AWS IoT Core, AWS IoT Device Defender, and AWS IoT Device Manager, can help organizations extend their security controls for encrypting, accessing and ... Build IoT web applications using AWS IoT Application Kit

Feed: The Internet of Things on AWS – Official Blog. Author: Sudhir Jena. On Mar 1, 2022, we announced AWS IoT Application Kit, an open-source UI components library for IoT application developers. With AWS IoT Application Kit, developers can build rich interactive web applications leveraging data from AWS IoT SiteWise. IoT application developers can deliver customized user experiences like industrial asset monitoring applications using web front-end frameworks like ReactJS, Vue.js or vanilla JavaScript along with reusable components from AWS IoT Application Kit. Figure 1: Screenshot of sample ReactJS application built with AWS IoT Application Kit What is AWS IoT Application ... Read More
Monitor AWS IoT connections in near-real time using MQTT LWT

Feed: The Internet of Things on AWS – Official Blog. Author: Syed Rehan. In a connected device, you may need to monitor devices in near-real time to detect error and mitigate actions, Last Will and Testament (LWT) method for MQTT addresses this challenge. LWT is a standard method of MQTT protocol specification that allows to detect abrupt disconnects of devices and to notify other clients about this abrupt disconnections. IoT devices are often used in environments with unreliable network connectivity and/or devices might disconnect due to lack of power supply, low battery, loss of connection, or any other reason. This ... Read More
Announcing three new APIs for batch data retrieval in AWS IoT SiteWise
Feed: Recent Announcements. AWS IoT SiteWise now supports batch data retrieval from multiple asset properties with the launch of three new APIs that allow you to retrieve current values (BatchGetAssetPropertyValue), historical values (BatchGetAssetPropertyValueHistory), and aggregated values (BatchGetAssetPropertyAggregates) from AWS IoT SiteWise in a single API request. The new APIs will help developers when creating industrial applications that need to retrieve data from multiple sensors. To use the new BatchGet APIs, you will need to include in your API request a list of asset property entries with parameters of the data to be retrieved, such as assetID, propertyID, time range, and ...
