AWS Direct Connect Announces MACsec Encryption for Dedicated 10Gbps and 100Gbps Connections at Select Locations
Feed: Recent Announcements. AWS Direct Connect now offers IEEE 802.1AE MAC Security Standard (MACsec) encryption for 10Gbps and 100Gbps Dedicated Connections at select locations to secure your high-speed, private connectivity to the cloud. Until now, securing data in transit between your network and AWS at multi-gigabit speeds required the aggregation of multiple IPsec VPN tunnels to work around the throughput limits of using a single VPN connection. The complexity of such a solution increases its operational risk and makes it less appealing to secure high-speed connectivity in excess of 10 Gbps. With the release of MACsec support, AWS Direct Connect ... Read More

Feed: Planet PostgreSQL. There are a lot of interesting articles on how to prevent the Out of Memory Killer (OOM killer in short) on Linux to ruin you day, or better your night. One particular well done explaination about how the OOM Killer works, and how to help PostgreSQL to survive, is, in my humble opinion, the one from Percona Blog. I tend to run PostgreSQL on FreeBSD machines, at least whenever it is possible, and quite frankly I have still a lot of things to learn. One of those little details is about FreeBSD OOM Killer. It turned out ... Read More
InfoTribes, Reality Brokers

Feed: Radar. Author: Hugo Bowne-Anderson. It seems harder than ever to agree with others on basic facts, let alone to develop shared values and goals: we even claim to live in a post-truth era1. With anti-vaxxers, QAnon, Bernie Bros, flat earthers, the intellectual dark web, and disagreement worldwide as to the seriousness of COVID-19 and the effectiveness of masks, have we lost our shared reality? For every piece of information X somewhere, you can likely find “not X” elsewhere. There is a growing disbelief and distrust in basic science and government. All too often, conversations on social media descend rapidly ... Read More
