Amazon S3 on Outposts now supports presigned URLs
Feed: Recent Announcements. Amazon S3 on Outposts now supports presigned URLs for granting time-limited access to objects stored locally on an Outpost. S3 on Outposts bucket owners can now more easily share objects with individuals in their Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). Prior to presigned URLs, to share objects with other users, bucket owners would assign IAM policies to buckets. Now, with presigned URLs, bucket owners have a time-limited way to grant the ability to share, upload, or delete objects with other individuals in their VPC. Bucket owners can grant time-limited access with the presigned URL by choosing a custom expiration time ... Read More

By Kevin Hakanson, Sr. Solutions Architect – AWS World Wide Public SectorBy Tod Golding, Principal Partner Solutions Architect – AWS SaaS Factory Many software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications store multi-tenant data with Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3). Landing multi-tenant data in Amazon S3 requires you to think about how tenant data will be distributed across buckets and keys without undermining the security, manageability, and performance of your SaaS solution. In this post, we’ll explore the various strategies that can be applied when partitioning tenant data with Amazon S3. We’ll highlight the considerations ... Read More
Amazon S3 on Outposts now supports AWS PrivateLink for management of buckets and access points
Feed: Recent Announcements. Amazon S3 on Outposts now supports AWS PrivateLink, providing direct access to manage your S3 on Outposts storage capacity via a private endpoint within your virtual private network. This allows you to simplify your internal network architecture and perform management operations on your S3 storage by using private IP addresses in your Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), eliminating the need to use public IPs or proxy servers. Customers today connect on-premises applications with Amazon S3 on Outposts using private IP addresses within their VPC, privately transferring object data in and out of S3 on Outposts. Many customers, however, ... Read More

AWS Step Functions now support over 220 services and over 10,000 AWS API actions. This enables you to use the AWS SDK integration directly instead of writing an AWS Lambda function as a proxy. One such service integration is with Amazon S3. Currently, you write scripts using AWS CLI S3 commands to achieve automation around running S3 tasks. For example, S3 integrates with AWS Transfer Family, builds a custom security check, takes action on ... Read More
Secure data movement across Amazon S3 and Amazon Redshift using role chaining and ASSUMEROLE

Feed: AWS Big Data Blog. Data lakes use a ring of purpose-built data services around a central data lake. Data needs to move between these services and data stores easily and securely. The following are some examples of such services: Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), which stores structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data Amazon Redshift, a fully managed, petabyte-scale data warehouse product to analyze large-scale structured and semi-structured data across data warehouses and operational databases Amazon SageMaker, which consumes data for machine learning (ML) capabilities In multi-tenant architectures, groups or users within a group may require exclusive permissions to the ...
